About the speaker

Gianluca Coletti, PhD is senior scientist at ECN part of TNO (Solar Energy) in the Netherlands and adjunct associate professor at UNSW Sydney (Australia). He is manager of ECN’s Industry Research Program focusing on the development of next generation cell and module technologies. He is the organizer and chairman of the Silicon Material for Photovoltaic Applications workshops held in Amsterdam (NL), Rome (IT) and Tempe (Arizona, US). He is one of the world recognized experts in the area of defects in silicon with more than 15 years of experience in PV and highly cited research carried out in academia, institutes and industry.

He has a Master in Physics from University of Rome “La Sapienza” (Italy). He obtained his PhD at the University of Utrecht (the Netherlands) in 2011 on the subject of Defect in silicon and their impact on solar cell performance. From 2000 to 2003 he worked as fellow researcher in the R&D labs of Eurosolare S.p.A. part of ENI group. Dr Gianluca Coletti gave over 30 oral presentations including 15 invited talks at international conferences worldwide, he published over 70 scientific papers and authored a book chapter on silicon for PV. He is PV Silicon area chair of next IEEE PhotoVoltaic Specialist Conference in Chicago, US, 2019.
