About the speaker
Riccardo Trivisonno (IEEE M’08, SM’19) is currently serving as Head of Network Architecture group for the Advanced Wireless Technologies Lab (AWTL) at Huawei Technologies, Munich Research Center. His research and standardization group develops and delivers to standardization bodies key technologies in the areas of Network Architecture, Core Network and Network Management. The group focus is on 5G systems and beyond, and on 3GPP/ETSI standardization. Riccardo joined Huawei Technologies in 2011. He holds a PhD (Dottorato di Ricerca) and an MSc (Laurea Magistrale) in Telecommunications Engineering from University of Bologna (achieved in 2005 and 2000, respectively).
Abstract
The seminar, of an approximate three hour duration, discusses the application of 5G Systems to support Vehicular Communications. After revisiting the cornerstones of 5G Network architecture, enhanced Vehicular to Everything (eV2X) communication requirements are analyzed, as per 3GPP Rel.15 SA1 specifications. The necessary 5G system architecture enhancements to support eV2X services are then discussed, as defined by 3GPP Rel.16 SA2 specifications, currently being finalized and expected to be frozen by March 2020. Particular attention is devoted to QoS provisioning topic. Finally, open issues and challenging requirements fostering 5G system evolutions beyond Rel.16 are briefly outlined.
